EC Launches Two Probes Into State Aid

Law360, New York (September 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has initiated a pair of investigations into millions of euros in state aid granted to a Ford Motor Co. automobile plant in Romania and an aviation parts manufacturer in Poland.

The EC said Wednesday it was taking a closer look into the Romanian government’s €57 million ($80.6 million) aid package to Ford for a staff training program at a Craiova plant in southwest Romania and whether the funding would harm competition.
