EPA, Enviro Group Settle Over Polluted Beach Water

Law360, New York (September 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will study the effects of beach water pollution on health and update its water quality standards by 2012, under an agreement announced this week by the Natural Resources Defense Council.

EPA's agreement settles a 2006 lawsuit filed by the NRDC, which claims the agency failed to protect the public health by neglecting its obligations under the Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health, or BEACH, Act of 2000.
