EU Committee Votes To Scale Back On Biofuels

Law360, New York (September 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- European Union lawmakers voted Thursday to scale back plans to expand the use of biofuels over concerns that they drive up food prices and cause environmental degradation.

Members of the European Parliament's industry committee voted 50-2 in favor of amending a draft directive on renewable energies. Before the measure becomes law, it still needs the approval of the full Parliament and all 27 of the European member states.
