Colo. Citizens Brawl Over Tapped Groundwater

Law360 (September 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A fight over groundwater has broken out in Colorado, with the state engineer appealing the court's decision in a lawsuit filed by a group of landowners who sued over what they say is a prime threat to their finite water supply.

An appeal of the case brought by Colorado residents about drilling for coal-bed methane got underway Wednesday in the Colorado Supreme Court. The state engineer and BP America Production Co. are appealing the lower court's decision.
