EU Asks Regulator For Details On Telefonica Ruling

Law360, New York (September 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission said Friday that it has asked Spain's telecommunications authority for more information regarding its July 31 decision that Telefonica SA does not have to let other carriers use its fiber-optic network.

The EC has not opened an official investigation into the matter but has had "informal contacts" with the Spanish Telecommunications Market Commission, said the EC's spokesman on competition, Jonathan Todd.
