Green Groups Sue Over Expansion Of Superfund Mine

Law360, New York (September 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Sierra Club and other environmental groups are seeking to block the expansion of an Idaho phosphate mine that has already been designated a Superfund site due to the release of toxic selenium into the water.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, the Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, Natural Resources Defense Council and Greater Yellowstone Coalition challenge the approval of a plan for the J.R. Simplot Co. to expand the Smoky Canyon Mine.
