EPA Sues Transporter For Tanker Truck Spill

Law360, New York (September 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency launched a suit Friday against Truax Oil Inc. over a 2006 tanker truck rollover that dumped 11,000 gallons of diesel and gasoline into the environment, including a river in southwestern Oregon.

The lawsuit, filed by the U.S. government on behalf of the EPA, claims Truax violated the Clean Water Act when an overturned tanker truck spilled thousands of gallons of oil into a tributary of Roberts Creek, which feeds into the South Fork of the Umpqua River.
