Sun Microsystems Sued Over 3-D Graphics Patents

Law360, New York (September 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Software giant Sun Microsystems Inc. has been hit with a patent infringement lawsuit by FuzzySharp Technologies Inc. over patents related to computer graphics systems.

Las Vegas-based FuzzySharp filed its complaint Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

FuzzySharp is accusing Sun of infringing U.S. Patent Numbers 6,172,679 and 6,618,047, both titled “Visibility calculations for 3-D computer graphics.” The '679 patent was issued in 2001 and the '047 patent in 2003 to inventor Hong Lip Lim, who assigned the patents to FuzzySharp....
