Crocs Kicks Back At Imitator Of Its Kicks

Law360 (June 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A defendant in a patent infringement lawsuit has admitted to stealing designs from distinctive shoemaker Crocs Inc., but Crocs continues to wage war against other alleged copycats.

Crocs believes that its imitators are not hiding, but are selling the copycat shoes at large stores, including Wal-Mart, Shoe Carnival and K-Mart.

Defendant Acme EX-IM Inc. was one of 11 companies accused of infringing patents for Crocs’ colorful clogs. The company admitted to the charges last week, and the settlement between the two companies is confidential.
