REACH Hazardous Chemicals List Likely To Be Short

Law360, New York (September 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union's first list of hazardous chemicals may only contain 12 to 16 substances, the chemicals regulator reportedly said Thursday, while public interest groups released a list of hundreds of chemicals that should be substituted under the new REACH regulation.

The European Chemicals Agency's list of hazardous substances identifies chemicals of highest concern under the EU's Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances legislation, which went into effect this summer.
