Medical Device Ads Scrutinized By Senate Panel

Law360, New York (September 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. Senate panel may call for a moratorium on ads for medical devices like artificial joints and heart stents amid concerns that the ads mislead consumers.

The Senate Special Committee on Aging held a hearing on medical device ads on Wednesday, and chairman Sen. Herbert Kohl, D-Wis., said he plans to keep a close eye on the information presented in the ads.
