Addressing Ambiguities Under The CPSIA

Law360, New York (September 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission (“Commission”) recently hosted a day-long forum in Washington, D.C., to address questions regarding the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (“CPSIA”), which was enacted on Aug. 14, 2008.

Forum participants included representatives from Winston & Strawn LLP, industry and trade associations, consumer groups, and product testing laboratories.

The attendees filled the Commerce Department’s large auditorium, reflecting widespread interest regarding numerous ambiguities in the new law, which Commission representatives acknowledged is “incredibly complex.”
