Senate Panel Names New SEC Commissioner

Law360, New York (June 14, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate Banking Committee unanimously nominated a new Securities and Exchange Commissioner on Wednesday, plucked straight from their own ranks.

Kathleen Casey, 40, currently the Republican staff director of the banking committee, would succeed current SEC commissioner Cynthia Glassman, who in mid-May declared her intent to step down from the post she has held for four years.

The nomination will be sent to the Senate floor to be voted on.
