E.U. Approval Of Canadian Mining Deal Nears

Law360 (June 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has set the stage for approval of Canadian mining firm Inco Ltd.'s takeover of rival Falconbridge Ltd., a move that would create the largest nickel-producing mine in the world.

Approval of the $11 billion deal, proposed in October 2005, neared after a draft decision green-lighting the merger was prepared for review by national competition regulators in the European Union’s 25 member states.
