EU Pushes To Simplify Rules On Mergers

Law360, New York (September 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission proposed a directive on Thursday that would cut the administrative burdens on companies going through mergers and divisions in an effort to raise the total potential savings to up to $1.5 billion per year.

The proposal to amend longstanding European company law would fit in with two packages the EC has introduced in the last two years that are aimed at reducing administrative burdens on European Union companies by 25 percent by the end of 2012.
