Watchdog To Probe British Grocery Market

Law360 (June 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Caving to pressure from the Association of Convenience Stores, a British antitrust watchdog has decided to launch an inquiry into the allegedly anti-competitive practices of supermarket chains in England.

The Competition Commission revealed its intentions on Thursday, releasing a "statement of issues" that outlined the aims of the supermarket investigation.

“The CC has been asked to investigate if any features of this market prevent, restrict or distort competition and if so, what action might be taken to remedy these,” said the group.
