Mandatory Retirement Didn't Violate ADEA: 3rd Circ.

Law360 (September 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit affirmed Wednesday that a police department's policy forcing retirement at age 55 doesn't violate federal employment laws against age discrimination.

A New Castle County, Del. police officer had appealed the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware's judgment that the department had not violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, or ADEA.
