Australia Overhauls Merger Guidelines

Law360, New York (June 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Forging ahead in its efforts to revamp its antitrust laws, Australia’s competition watchdog has refreshed its merger guidelines to include a provision for confidential reviews, which will shield information concerning proposed mergers.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced the changes this week, saying they are part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to reflect evolving best practices in antitrust processes.
