EU's New Rules For Labeling, Advertising Foodstuffs

Law360, New York (September 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- New rules regarding the nutrition and health claims made in the advertising, labeling and presentation of foodstuffs took effect in the European Union on July 1, 2007.

The new rules redefine what constitutes legitimate nutrition and health claims, and they pose a challenge to the legitimacy of many commonplace nutrition claims such as "low fat" and "sugar free."
