Senators Urge DOJ To Block DHL-UPS Deal

Law360, New York (September 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two United States senators have urged the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division to block DHL Express from outsourcing its North American air package delivery service to rival United Parcel Service Inc.

In a letter, Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., the chairman of the Senate Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Subcommittee, and Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, on Thursday called the proposed deal anti-competitive and warned that DHL would become dependent on UPS for its future operations, leaving DHL vulnerable.
