House Subcommittee OKs $1.77B USPTO Funding Bill

Law360, New York (June 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As a growing backlog of patent filings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office continues to draw ire, a Congressional subcommittee has given the green light to a bill that will provide billions of dollars in funding to the agency in fiscal year 2007.

The bill, which was approved by the Science, State, Justice and Commerce Appropriations Subcommittee in the House of Representatives, includes $1.77 billion in funds to be distributed to the USPTO, marking an $87.9 million boost from fiscal year 2006.
