Alito Opts Out Of High Court’s Cert Pool

Law360, New York (September 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Justice Samuel A. Alito has reportedly opted out of the Supreme Court’s cert pool, in which justices divide up the thousands of incoming petitions for certiorari among themselves rather than look at each one individually.

Alito is only the second active justice, along with John Paul Stevens, to decline participation in the pool, according to the New York Times, which broke the story Friday.
