AMD Subpoenas Staples, Wal-Mart & 30 Others

Law360 (June 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. fired off the latest salvo in its antitrust battle with Intel Corp., serving subpoenas on 32 third parties, including Wal-Mart, Staples, Toys-R-Us and Costco.

Thursday marked the second round of third party subpoenas in the class action antitrust suit against Intel. In all, the plaintiffs and defendants have served subpoenas on about 70 third parties, according to AMD.

"We believe that global antitrust scrutiny into Intel’s business practices has injected some flexibility in the marketplace,” said Tom McCoy, AMD’s chief administrative officer...
