EPA Fines Lab For Hazardous Waste Violations

Law360, New York (October 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Maine genetics laboratory has been hit with a proposed $213,670 fine by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for violations of federal hazardous waste regulations.

The EPA said in an administrative order Thursday that the Jackson Laboratory of Bar Harbor, Maine, had improperly stored potentially explosive chemicals and wastes in its labs and violated regulations on hazardous waste training. The violations were discovered during an inspection in November 2006, the agency said.
