Pa. Adopts Voluntary GHG Registry

Law360 (October 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has chosen voluntary registries for businesses to track carbon emissions and offsets, which is a requirement of the state's Climate Change Act signed by the governor in July.

Pennsylvania's Climate Change Advisory Committee recommended Wednesday that DEP adopt The Carbon Registry, which provides the data infrastructure for 30 states' emissions reporting, as its official carbon tracker.

The Carbon Registry tracks, verifies and reports greenhouse gas emissions for businesses, providing the data necessary for voluntary cap-and-trade programs.
