USPTO Test Program Would Accelerate Exam Process

Law360, New York (June 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An “accelerated examination” program for patent applicants who wish to complete the process in under a year will be offered for those willing to put in a little extra work, the United States Patent and Trademark Office announced Monday.

The proposal is now subject to a 60-day public comment period, and would therefore be ready for enactment, barring any changes, by the end of August.
