GAO Probes Quick Access To Utah Gas Wells

Law360, New York (October 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Congressional investigators are visiting Bill Barrett Corp. gas wells in Utah's Nine Mile Canyon as part of an inquiry into a streamlined approval process used to grant access to drilling sites without conducting full environmental studies.

The sites in question are home to numerous ancient cliff murals, which environmental and preservation activists say are at risk of corroding because of activities related to drilling.
