DOJ, SEC Probing Alexion Over FCPA Compliance

Law360, New York (November 4, 2015, 6:17 PM EST) -- Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. on Monday said the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating the company for possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

In a filing with the SEC, the pharmaceutical company said the DOJ has requested documentation and information regarding its compliance with the law. The SEC's investigation into Alexion's compliance with the FCPA had been disclosed in May.

Alexion has said that it was subpoenaed by the SEC's enforcement division on May 8, requesting information on its FCPA compliance and grant-making activities. That subpoena specifically named Japan, Brazil, Turkey and Russia, but applies to...
