BLM Strikes Back In Grand Canyon Mining Case

Law360, New York (October 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As the tug-of-war battle over uranium mining around the Grand Canyon continues, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management has moved to strike down an emergency rule invoked by a congressional committee to try to stop the governmental agency from allowing uranium exploration in the area.

On Thursday, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the BLM angered conservationists further by challenging the committee's ability to block the uranium initiative, calling into question a little-known rule that had been used back in June....
