15 Hazardous Chemicals Make First EU REACH List

Law360, New York (October 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union’s chemicals regulator has released a list of 15 “substances of very high concern” under the EU’s new Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances legislation, which went into effect this summer.

The European Chemicals Agency on Thursday released the list, which included 14 substances unanimously agreed on by the Member State Committee during its meeting in Helsinki on Tuesday and Wednesday, the agency reported. The 15th substance was identified without the Member State Committee’s involvement.
