Microsoft To Face More Steep Fines From E.C.

Law360, New York (June 27, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In the latest development in a long-running battle that has already cost Microsoft Corp. €497 million in fines, European antitrust authorities are expected to levy yet another staggering fine against the software giant, according to published reports.

The push for new sanctions reflects regulators’ frustration over the Microsoft’s inability or unwillingness to satisfy the EC’s demands that Microsoft turn over technical data to aid its competitors, pursuant to their 2004 finding that Microsoft abused their dominant market position.
