Fremont General In War Over Exclusivity Extension

Law360, New York (October 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bankrupt Fremont General Corp. is fighting back against its unsecured creditors committee's attempt to block the lender's request for more time to file its exclusive plan of reorganization, saying the committee wants to seize control of the Chapter 11 case.

In a motion filed Monday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, the company maintained that the real motivation of the creditors committee is to force a liquidation even though a larger benefit can be gained otherwise for all of the stakeholders....
