Bush Campaigning To Curb Consumer Suits: Report

Law360 (October 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A trial lawyers' association has accused the Bush administration of rewriting a slew of federal rules to preempt state laws that protect consumers, as part of a campaign to shield corporations from product liability lawsuits.

The American Association For Justice released a report Wednesday on Bush's “regulatory strategy” of preemption, which includes correspondence revealing that the White House influenced federal agencies' regulations.
