Ocean Spray Sues Rival Over Craisin Technology

Law360 (October 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Things aren't looking so sweet for the maker of a dried fruit snack after being slapped with a lawsuit from Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. that accuses it of infringing patented technology Ocean Spray uses to make Craisins, a popular dried cranberry product.

Ocean Spray filed the lawsuit on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts, alleging that Decas Cranberry Products Inc.’s sweetened dried cranberries infringe Ocean Spray's patented process for infusing dried fruit, especially cranberries, with juices or sweeteners.
