Dutch Regulator Fines Sara Lee Unit €269,000

Law360, New York (October 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sara Lee Corp. has run afoul of European competition authorities again as a Dutch antitrust regulator slapped the company's Utrecht, Netherlands-based subsidiary with a fine of €269,000 ($358,000) on Monday for breaking a seal on a room under investigation.

De Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit, which enforces Dutch competition law, assessed the penalty against Sara Lee Household & Bodycare Nederland BV for a broken seal that could indicate that materials had been removed or tampered with, the regulator announced Monday.
