DLA Piper Secures Fix For Broken Ga. Food Benefit Program

By Andrew Strickler (December 2, 2015, 7:16 PM EST) -- Tens of thousands of low-income Georgians who were improperly denied desperately needed food stamps will see a troubled state benefits system overhauled after the successful conclusion of a federal suit backed by a DLA Piper pro bono team.

Following an agreement last summer by the state Department of Human Services to radically improve the processing of benefit applications, the U.S. Department of Agriculture last month also committed to putting up millions of dollars to fund retroactive benefits to thousands of poor Georgia families.
