E.U. Closer To Hitting Microsoft With €2M Daily Fine

Law360, New York (July 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- European antitrust regulators appear to be one step closer to levying a staggering fine against Microsoft Corp. Published reports citing anonymous sources assert that E.U. regulators have unanimously agreed that Microsoft should be slapped with daily sanctions.

The exact amount of the fine has yet to be decided, but it could be as much as €2 million per day, backdated to December 2005. Regulators will meet next week to hash out the details, Reuters reported.
