Sophos Settles Fortinet Suit Over Stolen IP And Staff

By Patrick Boyle (December 10, 2015, 2:15 PM EST) -- Sophos Group plc announced Wednesday that it will pay to settle a lawsuit by Fortinet Inc., a rival security software company that accused Sophos of poaching its workers, stealing its technology and infringing its patents.

The settlement was reached through mediation, Sophos said in a two-sentence statement that announced the deal but did not disclose the amount.

Fortinet filed the lawsuit in 2013 in California federal court, alleging that former executives Michael Valentine and Jason Clark violated nonrecruitment agreements by soliciting other Fortinet staffers to join them at Sophos, and that those workers downloaded confidential Fortinet information to their personal computers...
