Oil Cos Settle Suit Over Mass. Oil Spill

Law360, New York (October 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Irving Oil Corp. and Global Petroleum Corp. have agreed to pay upward of $300,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by the Massachusetts attorney general over a 2006 oil spill in Revere, Mass.

Under the settlement, which was filed Tuesday in the Suffolk Superior Court, the companies that owned and operated a loading dock where the spill occurred have consented to pay $100,000 in civil penalties and $12,500 for damages to Chelsea River and Mill Creek, as well as contribute $200,000 toward remediation efforts.
