A Blot On Careers, Sanctions Can Haunt Lawyers

Law360, New York (October 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has refused to vacate sanctions against three attorneys and to order publishers to erase the punishment from the public record, raising little surprise among attorneys who said it was unlikely that the judges would find any exceptional reason to undo the district court decision.

In a bid to have the $64,000-plus sanctions eliminated, the plaintiff's three attorneys reached a settlement with the defendant based on the condition that the Second Circuit agree to vacate the order....
