Whole Foods Faces Customers' Antitrust Suit

Law360 (October 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Whole Foods Market Inc. shoppers have filed a putative class action alleging that the natural foods supermarket chain began charging inflated prices for organic produce after its acquisition of Wild Oats Market Inc. last year.

The suit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, alleges that the merger of Whole Foods and Wild Oats markets, completed in August 2007, eliminated competition in the upscale organic food market and led to higher prices for consumers.
