Case Over Weight Loss Drug Gets A Little Thinner

Law360, New York (October 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The judge overseeing a racketeering and fraud case involving weight loss drug Akavar has thrown several defendants off the case, but the litigation will proceed against a handful more involved in promoting the controversial European treatment.

On Monday, Judge Ted Stewart partially granted the defendants' motion to dismiss, handing the various accused parties a mixed bag with a decision issued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah.
