Judge Tosses Sandoz’ Injunctive Bid Over Zocor

Law360 (July 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has refused to grant a preliminary injunction aimed at thwarting two companies from exclusively selling generic versions of Merck & Co. Inc.'s blockbuster cholesterol drug Zocor.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth dismissed Sandoz’s injunctive bid against the generic drug makers Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.'s Ivax and Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd.

Judge Lamberth had already rejected Sandoz’ request for a temporary restraining order last month, but ruled that he would reconsider it later as a motion for a preliminary injunction.
