Mayer Brown Partner Joins IRS Advisory Council

Law360, New York (January 22, 2016, 7:07 PM EST) -- An accomplished attorney from Mayer Brown LLP who is primarily focused on tax issues facing the energy industry has been chosen to serve a three-year appointment on an advisory council to the Internal Revenue Service, the agency announced on Friday.

Shawn R. O'Brien, a partner in Mayer Brown's Texas office with more than 18 years' experience practicing tax law, will join a team representing taxpayers, tax professionals and academia  to provide feedback and suggestions to the IRS on significant tax administration issues, the agency said.
