Genetic Researchers Clash Over Diagnostic Patents

Law360 (November 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Sequenom Inc. is suing rival genetic research company Ibis Biosciences Inc., alleging Ibis infringes three patents related to DNA analysis technology.

The complaint, lodged Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, claims Ibis’ biosensor system violates patents it holds over mass spectrometers used to analyze DNA.

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Ibis’ T5000 Biosensor System uses spectrometer technology covered by U.S. Patent Numbers 6,300,076; 6,500,621; and 7,419,787, according to the complaint.
