New Rules At The Office Of Enrollment And Discipline

Law360, New York (November 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- New rules by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO or Office) governing the conduct of disciplinary investigations and disciplinary proceedings went into effect on Sept. 15, 2008.

The new rules more specifically define how investigations are conducted by the Office of Enrollment and Discipline (OED). These new rules contain certain reporting requirements by persons practicing before the Office.

One such reporting requirement is new rule 37 C.F. R. 11.25(a), which requires that a person practicing before the Office “shall notify the OED Director in writing...
