CPSC Probes UTVs In Wake Of Deaths

Law360, New York (November 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is reportedly turning its eye on the safety of a class of off-roaders known as utility terrain vehicles, as reports of accidents that have resulted in amputations and some 30 deaths continue to pour in.

At the center of the investigation, which was reported Tuesday by the Wall Street Journal, is Yamaha Motor Corp.'s Rhino, a popular UTV that has become the subject of more than 200 lawsuits in state and federal courts.
