EU Cement Industry Incurs Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (November 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Europe's competition watchdog has confirmed that a major antitrust probe has been launched within the country's cement industry on suspicions that several companies have been running a cartel and abusing their dominant positions in the marketplace.

The European Commission said Tuesday that as part of the investigation, it had conducted unannounced inspections earlier this week at the premises of companies active in the cement and related products industries in several member states.
