EU Lawmakers Vote To Ban Toxic Pesticides

Law360, New York (November 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- European Union lawmakers voted Wednesday to pass legislation that would toughen restrictions on pesticides, a move that follows the release of scientific research showing some commonly used chemicals in member states were highly toxic.

The EU Parliament's committee on environment, public health and food safety environment supported two recommendations governing the production, licensing and use of pesticides, banning certain chemicals and requiring member states to meet targets for reducing the volume of pesticides used.
