Election Day Also A Day At The Court Races

Law360, New York (November 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The identity of the president of the United States, the makeup of the next Congress and state legislative races were not the only elections decided Tuesday night.

State supreme court rosters and lower court seats were also up for grabs in many states, including several closely watched ones.

According to the Justice at Stake Campaign, a coalition of judicial advocacy groups, 23 high court seats were up for grabs in 13 states in the 2008 elections. Candidates for those seats raised a total of $29.4 million,...
